About

Agnieszka Papierska is a distinguished musician specializing in the historically informed practice of violin and viola. She holds master’s degrees in baroque violin from the Koninklijk Conservatorium in Den Haag (The Netherlands) and the Academy of Music in Wroclaw (Poland), as well as a master’s degree in baroque viola from the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz (Poland).

Throughout her studies and professional career, Agnieszka has collaborated with numerous inspiring musicians in both classical and early music. She has participated in several prestigious young talent projects, including Academia Montis Regalis, the European Baroque Academy of Ambronay, Orchestre Français des Jeunes, and the Theresia Youth Baroque Orchestra. In these roles, she progressed from trainee to concertmaster and coach, focusing on the symphonic music of the classical period. With the Theresia Youth Baroque Orchestra, she had the opportunity to perform a solo in the Symphonie Concertante by J. Ch. Bach at concerts in Northern Italy and recorded several CDs for the German label CPO. Agnieszka’s artistry can also be heard on numerous recordings from Brilliant Classics, Alpha Classics and Pentatone.

As an orchestral player, Agnieszka has graced the stages of many renowned concert halls, including the Concertgebouw and Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ (Amsterdam), Centro Cultural (Lisbon), Tivoli Vredenburg (Utrecht), Berlin Philharmonic (Germany), Cine-Theatro Central in Juiz de Fora (Brazil), Auditorium Cesare Pollini (Italy), Grand Théâtre de Provence (France), Warsaw Philharmonic, and Zaryadye Concert Hall (Moscow), among others. She takes great pleasure in leading orchestras and readily embraces solo opportunities, whether performing violin arias in orchestral works or solo concertos.

For many years, Agnieszka has been an active performer with chamber music ensembles, primarily focusing on the music of the classical period. She has showcased her talents with a string trio at music festivals in Italy and Slovenia, and with a viola duo at a festival in The Netherlands. Currently, she is a member of the chamber ensemble Armonico Tributo, which is dedicated to rediscovering five-part music from the baroque period.

In 2018, Agnieszka was awarded a prestigious scholarship from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Poland, known as “Młoda Polska.” She performs on an anonymous late 18th-century violin from the Klingenthal region and a German viola from the same period.
